Like a Boy

Do your friends ever make up names for certain pieces of clothing or outfits that you wear? My boyfriend is an expert at finding fitting descriptions for my clothes. This knit sweater for example, is lovingly called the “construction worker sweater”. That’s his way of expressing his displeasure when I’m wearing it. He hates it.

Not that I can be bothered. It’s cozy, soft and super comfortable thanks to the Batwing sleeves. When I needed to pick an outfit for our flight to Miami this sweater was the first item I grabbed. Because our estimated total travel time was well over 14 hours I paired it with my grey sweatpants and black Nike trainers for a super comfy look. In these photos I am clearly wearing something else (and more fashionable tbh). The photos you see today date from a few weeks ago when the fall foliage was still going strong and the weather was quite a lot nicer than it is today in Belgium too. The sweatpants were brand new and a bit of an impulse buy after I spotted them on the H&M website. I wore my grey sweatpants so much and there was something about the pinstripes on this new pair that I really loved, so I decided to get them without putting much thought into how many outfits I was going to be able to create with them. That turned out to be tricky! I have a thing for masculine looks, so when I was thinking up outfits with my new wardrobe addition I naturally came to my grey sweater again. Doing the runway show through the apartment that I always do when I get something new I was surprised to hear a compliment come out of my boyfriend’s mouth. He actually liked my outfit! I kindly reminded him of his hatred towards my sweater and he shrug his shoulders and asked me to wear this look for date night. Sometimes I wish I could think like a boy. Incomprehensible.
