The Odd One Out

The rain is clattering against the windows and I have the lights on inside because it’s almost too dark to see without. We might have felt the first signs of Spring this weekend, the April Showers haven’t been too long in coming. My friend S came by our apartment for the first time on Friday and brought me gorgeous Spring Snowflakes (Leucojum) in a fine white flower pot. On our windowsill sit two more pots with daffodils, who’s beauty is slowly starting to fade. If it weren’t for the abundance of greenery we have inside right now, I’d never guess it was Spring when looking out the window. So, instead of going into town as planned I’m sitting at the kitchen table writing up the blog posts that I have planned for the next couple of weeks.

This outfit had been on my to-shoot planning since early winter. Mini-skirts were all the rage last season and it made for a good excuse to pull out this & Other Stories skirt that I bought in London years ago. The January blues hit hard though and I also didn’t really work on my blog much in February. When my friend K recently scrolled through my blog and exclaimed in disbelief that I hadn’t worn a skirt or dress in my outfit posts since November, I knew that I should give this outfit a go. Among my soft grey looks from recent weeks this winter-y outfit will be the odd one out, but I love it anyway.

On Sunday we had things planned, but due to circumstances our plans got changed and we had an unexpected day off. K offered to drive to Ikea and get some things we’d been missing in our kitchen. While we were there we also picked up a chest of drawers and a few decorative bits to dress up our hallway, which has been sitting completely empty since we moved in last summer. To complete our Ikea-date we shared blueberry cheesecake and free coffee in the Ikea restaurant. Since the weather was absolutely gorgeous we made a pit-stop in Hoogstraten on our way home to shoot my outfit of the day and wander around the beguinage a little. Can we say: good life?

The red skirt is so lovely against all of the black 🙂 Glad you had a great day with nice weather when you took these photos, even if the weather isn’t the best now as you’re writing!
