I believe it was the year 2000. I was eight. Or about to turn eight. ‘Freestyler’ from the Bombfunk MC’s was my favorite song, I knew the first 151 Pokémons by heart and platform shoes were the bomb diggity. I remember that I had a pair. They were baby blue, buffalo-style and horrible, but I loved them. I went to high school in 2004 and quickly learned that platforms had become an absolute no-go when someone a few years older pointed at my shoes and laughed. A stupid and meaningless moment as I’m sure that she had already forgotten about me by the time she was a 100 meters away, but I swore to never ever wear platforms again.
Yeah… That failed.
My relationship with these silver creeper-brogues is much like my relation with the baby blue nineties platforms. I hate them, but I love them. They attract me in some way and repulse me in another. I’ve gotten compliments from some, but others just look at me like I came walking straight out the Fashion Police jail. Where uncertainty was the reason I threw away my buffalo’s 12 years ago, it is uncertainty that made me decided to buy these brogues today. I’ve grown up and realized that I quite like things that I don’t really like. I’m weird. That, and I saw a lady wearing creeper-brogues in March last year and she rocked them so good that I wanted a pair myself. The only problem was that I was still a student with no budget for shoes that I might end up never wearing. When Sacha Shoes asked me if I wanted to join their blogger program this March I knew it was my chance to go a little crazy. At first my eye fell on a pair of nude brogues (that’s what the lady was wearing), but my heart shouted to go for the silver ones. Having had a year’s time to think, I already had a few outfits in mind when my shiny (literally) new brogues came in the mail last week. This all-grey ensemble is the first of many looks to come and I am super happy with my choice.

I wouldn’t peg all gray as chic, but this totally is! It’s such a cool outfit! Especially those shoes!

I was surprised at how well the look came together. I wanted to try it after reading an article on the Kardashians and their fashion, hahaha.

Platform shoes are not for me, but I don’t have an issue with other people wearing them. For me, they remind me of the spice girls era….a photo of my friends and I pretending to be the spice girls was unearthed not that long ago while decluttering…memories! And not the flattering kind of memories, haha!
I love how you’ve worn the metllic shoes with the monochrome grye outfit, and I am so pleased you are embracing your “Weirdness” as you call it. I think the world would be incredibly boring place if we all liked and wore the same thing, and when you wear the shoes so well you can easily brush off any less than complimentary reactions! 🙂

You are right, the world would be a lot less colorful if we all dressed the same. I also must admit that it took me a while to get used to this type of shoe. They are quite intimidating when you’re used to wearing basic shoes like I was, but it also feels nice to step out of my comfort zone and rock these every now and then (they surely aren’t for every day!).
