Are you in shock? I know I was when I looked into the mirror before we made these photos. After my post about why I don’t wear make-up, I was contacted by the Demak’up team to help spread the word about their new Expert product range. At first I was puzzled, because I have no knowledge about beauty and am by far not a beauty blogger. Dear goodness, I didn’t even own a mascara! But then, an aha erlebnis. One of my girls is a huge make-up fan. And that’s an understatement. I was curious about her magical eye look creations, and asked her to show me her skills and help me out with this blog post. One week later, my desk was covered with Sleek paletts, Lip tar tubes, Catrice cosmetics, brushes and Demak’up products ready to be tried and tested! To be honest… I was really excited to try something new!
The eye look
We started with a primer, the Shadow Insurance anti-crease eye shadow primer from Too Faced, then used the different palettes you can find below to create an ombre orange/gold eye look, which we finished off with a line of gel eyeliner. We added a subtle gold eye shadow beneath my eyes and used a gold waterliner to perfect the result. The final touch to the look was the Etos hypoallergenic mascara that made my lashes stand out. Easy as that! – Thank you Natalie, for recommending the mascara!
The make-under
First of all: dayum, the expert range products smell gooood! They are sprinkled with a soft lotus scent that I just can’t get enough of. Secondly, a more serious review. I received a box with the complete Expert range, but will only focus on two products today because I haven’t found the time yet to test everything out. The expert range claims to remove waterproof and long-lasting make-up with ease, so let’s see how it preformed! To begin my make-under, I chose the eye make-up remover pads to remove the eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner. The cotton pads in the expert range are very soft, and didn’t cause any irritation to my eyes whatsoever and I was able to remove almost all of the make-up from my eyelids. I saw almost, because some eyeliner remained even after a decent amount of scrubbing. I have very, very sensitive skin and being able to remove every last bit of make-up is key to keep my skin healthy and irritation free. Eventhough the pads weren’t able to remove all of the eyeliner, I had no worries. In my package I also found a cleansing lotion (not pictured) that came to my rescue. I drenched a cotton swap in the lotion to remove the remaining eyeliner precisely and in just a few seconds my eyelids were their naked selves again, but also soft and good-smelling. In the end, two pads (one for each eye) and one cotton swap sufficed to wipe away the make-up and the last remains of eyeliner. And for those who worry about my allergy: I had no reactions to the make-up products used!
The Demak’up Expert range will be available in Belgian stores from June 2nd 2014!
