It’s been 10 months since we moved into our first apartment and finally I have a post ready with our finished living room! I’m a little lost for words at the moment as I’ve just written all the text below (yup, it’s another long one!) and two application letters for different jobs I’m eyeing, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking for me! Enjoy!
Dille & Kamille light grey pillowcase • H&M home baby blue pillowcase • Hema cross pillowcase • ikea fleece • Action wire basket • Hema grey storage boxes • Overstock rug • XL Boom Metro collection coffee table • Casa candle light houses • Ogreen Peperomia Raindrop “Legend” plant (c/o Juttu)
Our main seating area is all white and grey, with a frigid blue accent wall and blue accents here and there. Pride of the room is the XL Boom metro coffee table. I got to know XL Boom through blogging and have loved their Metro collection from when it was first introduced to me. K and I had been arguing about whether or not we would get a coffee table and were debating a few cheap ikea models when we walked into the XL Boom collection at Habitat. It was the first time K saw the tables and unaware of my love for them he spread his arms and said: “These! I could do with these!”. I don’t think we ever closed a deal so fast!
Sofa’s are freaking expensive. Our couch is probably the thing we search for the longest. Since we are probably only going to live here for three years, we didn’t want to spend thousands of euro’s. We had heard about the very poor quality of Ikea couches and knew we needed something better, so we drove by every. singe. furniture store in our area until we eventually we found ours at Goossens in The Netherlands. It is simply perfect. It’s a 2,5 seat couch and we bought a separate foot stool at Leen Bakker (because those cost just as much as the sofa and that just seems ridiculous to me).
XL Boom Metro collection side table • Hema pillowcase • Dille &Kamille glass boxes • Xenos candles • Hema pink scented candle
Next to our main seating area we have two reading chairs. They used to serve as lounge sofa’s in the dorm rooms of my boyfriend and his brother. When they both graduated the chairs were just taking up space in my in-laws house where nobody used them, but then they happened to be perfect for our apartment! Win-win!
We don’t have curtains in our living room, so to make the room look more dressed I added a few bits to the window sill. I fell in love with these glass boxes from Dille & Kamille as soon as I saw them, but they were a little on the pricey side. As luck would have it my in-laws gave me a gift card for Christmas this year and I went out to get these as soon as I could! Since Spring started I almost always have fresh flowers on my side table. Usually they’re a little less fancy, but this bouquet was a gift from my mom for my birthday last week.
Ikea Hemnes shoe cabinet • Hema vase • Hema “hello” card
The hallway is the reason this post took so long. K and I couldn’t agree on whether or not we had to leave the space empty or add a shoe cabinet for extra storage. I won and got my shoe cabinet about two weeks ago now and even though he said he was going to use it all four drawers have been loaded with K’s stuff. Typical! Well, I enjoy having another tiny nook to decorate with useless bits and pieces, haha. I had this cute card for ages and it finally found its place in our apartment. The vase was a sneaky little gift from my uni friends; They bought it for me after I had enthusiastically pointed it out during a recent shopping trip (where I had no cash to spend). The orchid my grandmother gave me for my birthday is the perfect finishing touch. We wanted to hang a round mirror above, but the one we eyed in Ikea was sold out when we were there last. Guess We have a good excuse to go back!
Aaaaaand that was it. Finally, haha. It’s been a long time since I’ve written such an extensive post! I hope you guys enjoyed. What are your thoughts? Most of my friends don’t believe K had a say in our interior because of all the white, baby blues and pinks, haha. Anyway time for bed now. Hope you all had a lovely weekend. See you later!

Your living room is lovely! Really like that blue wall, the flowers and the decorations on the window sill. I need fancy candle holders like that for sure!
