Oh Italy! Country of wine and cheese, prosciutto and salt-free bread. Never eat bread in Italy. Never. On the 22nd of June K and I boarded a plane for a last-minute getaway to the sun. With a temperatures up to 30°C all day every day, we enjoyed ice creams while walking through the tiny streets of Bologna, the massive crowds in Firenze and over the cutest little bridges in Venice.
Today I’m sharing my pictures from Bologna. Located in central northern Italy, this city was the perfect base camp for our entire stay. We slept in a hotel a little outside the city center, but very close to the train station and the bus stop to the airport. Bologna hasn’t fallen pray to mass tourism yet, so the prices at restaurants and local bars are very reasonable. The only downside really being that not many restaurateurs and store employees speak or understand any English… . Famous for their Mortadella sausages and column galleries, this city was one after my heart. Food + covered sidewalks meant I was never hungry and I didn’t get the sunburn I was preparing myself for. Please enjoy these photo series and I’ll show you part two next Thursday!
I love this post! About 2 years ago I went with my husband to Tuscany. We visited a lot of cities and your pictures brought it all back! I miss the cheese so much, hopefully one day I'll be able to board a plane for a "last minute getaway" to Italy haha.
And, I'll take your bread! Pass the bread! 🙂
I bet the city is beuatiful, the photos are stunning! By the way, how's the Bolognese sauce?! haha
mmmh the food looks so good
Wauw, de foto's zijn echt prachtig, dat gestreept shortje is ook heel leuk!
these pictures are stunning! makes me wish I could just hop on a plane real quick 😉

Ik ben nog nooit in Italië geweest, zo'n schande eigenlijk…
En die foto met het gestreepte shortje is superleuk!
the food looks so yummy! i hope to make it to italy sometime soon.
Ah! Bolanga isn't far from the area I was at when I was teaching English (the Parma area). Didn't notice anything with the bread, but it was so funny that for a place famous for the food, there were things I couldn't comprehend either (weird pickled veggies and rice dish).
Bolanga looks gorgeous and you took such great photos. Can't wait to see more!
We actually had wanted to visit Parma! But we opted for Venice and Florence instead, because Kenneth really wanted to go back to Florence and had never been to Venice before 🙂
Beautiful! You look great in Italy! What an incredible trip!
heya Nikki, i wanted to send you a note of thanks for visiting me. i kinda went off the grid for a while there and really missed the blogging connections i'd made, like YOU! so thanks again for stopping by…you're the real deal and then some 🙂

I'm studying near Bologna. Actually, my faculty is part of the Bologna's university. I have to say that it's not one of my favorite cities, but it's not bad. Your photos are lovely and I hope you have a great time in my country. Can't wait to see the pictures of Firenze and Venezia.
