23

On April 24th I celebrated my 23rd birthday. A random number, it seems, but 2015 is the year my life is going to change a lot. And so will my blog. I’m graduating, looking for an apartment and searching for a job. Not nothing, I’d say! It’s in the light of these changes that I would like to announce some changes to The Ginger Diaries. I’m a social worker and I personally feel that if I want to work in this field, I need to find a new balance in what aspects of …

Great Minds Dress Alike (with Dress Your Life)

Great Minds Dress Alike (with Dress Your Life)

When a friend wears the same sweater as you and is also a blogger, posts like this must happen. The sweater is not a recent find. I bought it while shopping for an outfit to wear for our New Years Eve party with friends. I wanted something comfortable and chic but not a dress, and this sweater ticked all the boxes. When I got home from my shopping trip I posted a picture of my new wardrobe addition on SnapChat and I received an exciting reply from Naomi telling me she had exactly the same one. The deal was …

Travel Outfit: Mosel Promenade, Cochem

Travel Outfit: Mosel Promenade, Cochem

These Nikes are the first pair of sneakers to grace my feet since the All Star revival that happened in my first year of High School. My All Stars were olive green with pastel pink lining and a year later I got gray ones that I still have. Now we are ten years later and the Air Max is back. As a child born in the early nineties, the return of mid length hair, cropped tops, rompers and Nikes causes me some nervousness. I remember well those awkward days, how fast the trends faded and how much I lagged behind.&…

Postcards from Cochem

Postcards from Cochem

And that right there is Germany as I know it best: half-timbered houses and colorful facades lining a river and endless vineyards on a hill topped off with a castle. A castle that is 900 years old, in the case of Cochem. I have been in Cochem before, a couple of years ago, but didn’t really write about it on the blog. This time, I also don’t have much to say. It was a cloudy and rainy day and we spent most of it hanging out in a cafe and looking for a supermarket. Basic needs, people! …

In Bloom (with Mijn Wonderkamer)

In Bloom (with Mijn Wonderkamer)

25°C, are you guys ready for this!? I know I am thanks to Mijn Wonderkamer. Those of you who guessed I kept the striped dress from my collaboration obviously won. This two-layered dress with golden straps is simply perfect for summer and I couldn’t resist. Even if I really wanted that blue playsuit to wear to the formal dance I’m attending next week. I added last years snake-print sandals and my over-sized bucket bag from H&M and wore gold jewelry to finish off the outfit. My hair is still long in these photos, …

Easter in Ediger-Eller

Easter in Ediger-Eller

We were in Ediger-Eller (Germany) the weekend before Easter and the town was in full preparation for the Easter celebration. Young and old was out and about, cleaning and overall preparing for the 2015 tourist season to begin. Ediger-Eller is a small town in the Mosel Valley, not too far from Cochem and Koblenz, that has a history going back to before the year 1000. The town is a true beauty, with the wood-work houses being my favorite object to photograph. The old tractors parked in every corner and the Easter eggs spread out in every tree made for…
